1. Making the most of coastal views
After living in their home in Port Isaac, Cornwall for almost 32 years, Nigel and Marion decided it was time to make some upgrades to their property to make it more functional and modern. One of the things at the top of their list was replacing the French Doors in their garden room with aluminium Origin Bi-fold Doors, to make the most of their stunning Cornish coastal views and offer much-needed weather protection. The couple met with their local Origin Installer to discuss their requirements and decided to install a 5 door and 2 door set to bring in as much natural light as possible and create a truly open space. The result is magnificent.

2. Couple return home after 44 years with Origin Bi-folding Doors
Located in Bradworthy, about 10 miles from the coast, Bet and John were keen to extend and modernise the back of their property, which boasted beautiful views of rolling hills and English countryside. The extension was intended to add more space and natural light. "bi-folding doors fitted perfectly with what we wanted to achieve" said Bet, "We wanted something that would last and would require no maintenance. We both fell in love with Origin’s doors.” Also featuring Origin Windows, their bi-folds have helped to achieve what they wanted from their extension and bring new value to their property.

3. The bi-fold expectation
What makes it an ‘expectation’, you ask? Well, this case study was slightly different to the norm as it was for neither an existing build or commercial property. An impressive moving corner door set and a 5 door b set were installed into this new build property, with the intention to sell once the build was complete. Installed in a 7 bedroom, 8,500 sq ft property located in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, Origin doors were chosen to match the level of quality and luxury found throughout the building. The construction company later installed a 2 door bi-fold in the kitchen dining area to create one large open area. “In a home like this, bi-fold doors are expected. They offer a transitional living experience like no other”, said the representative of the construction company.

4. Blending contemporary with traditional
Replacing timber with aluminium, Malcolm and his wife wanted to retain the traditional look of their property but benefit from the strength and low maintenance that comes with aluminium. After a lot of research and contacting over 18 traders for quotes and recommendations, the couple decided that Origin were the right choice for them. “Origin Bi-folds were recommended and I liked their quality, the smooth operation and the weight. The handles and fittings looked and felt like a good quality product." Malcolm explained. Initially wanting to just replace their timber French Doors in the kitchen, the couple also decided to install a 3 door set of bi-folds, complemented by Origin Windows. Malcolm says, "we'd definitely use Origin again - in fact, we've already recommended them to a friend.”

5. Kitchen extension framed with bi-folding doors
Set against an impressive church background, Jamie wanted something equally as impressive for his kitchen extension. Completely replacing one of the extension walls with an 8 door Origin Bi-fold set and then a 3 door set on the adjacent wall, Jamie was determined to create the wow-factor that would lend functionality when entertaining guests in the large garden and patio area. The main building also comprises of Origin Windows and French Doors, which make use of Origin’s dual colour option, coloured pebble grey on the exterior and matte white for the interior.

Bringing out the very best of a barn conversion
Another one of our favourite case studies is this spectacular barn conversion - also referred to as an ‘Origin House’, as it is a full suite of Origin Doors and Windows - was originally bought by Neil and his wife when it was simply a brick barn. Still situated on a farm, the renovations took 12 months to complete and Neil, who is a big fan of Kevin McCloud’s ‘Grand Designs’, decided that Origin’s aluminium doors and windows offered the strength, quality and aesthetics he wanted to achieve with his building project.
“I wanted to build something timeless, something that wouldn’t get outdated”, Neil says. Their corner bi-fold door set with fixed post has replaced the entire wall in their kitchen, which lets in the midday sunlight beautifully and gives the couple easy access to the outdoor area where they can lounge and enjoy al fresco dining.
