"Although our extension isn't finished,we love the doors, the colour and how smooth the open and shut"
"They look beautiful the only thing is not good the fact 1 of the doors just swings about nothing to hold it back"
"The lead times are absolutely amazing and the quality is great too. Unreserved recommendation!"
"Good quality materials used. Excellent appearance and finished our extension to a very high standard. Admired by everyone."
"Had my new doors fitted last week absolutely love them"
"Fast, efficient and a great quality product!"
"Good design for looks, security, and the dual colour option."
"I had the Bifold doors and a residential door. I purchased my Bifolds through Basfords in Nottingham I live in Birmingham and these guys were the best to go with price wise and confidence wise. I cannot tell you how fantastic my doors look the attention to detail on both the Bifolds and the front door is second to non. Thank you to Origin and thank you to Basfords who are a real credit to the Origin team."
"Hello, I have this week had a bi-fold door fitted in my home by Fox Windows and Doors of Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. My wife and I are very pleased with the door. However, although we requested that the internal seals and gaskets would be white in colour to match the internal colour of the door, one of the gaskets is black. See enclosed photos. When we questioned this with our supplier, we were informed that they had contacted your company and were advised that this particular gasket (the one that seals the main opening door) was only supplied in black. This seems a bad idea as it detracts from the look of the door. Why offer all other seals and gaskets in white but offer this one only in black? If you cannot supply this gasket in black, there is not much that I can do about it, but my feedback would be that in future you should offer it in white as it will improve the look of the door. If in future you do decide to supply it in white, can I have one please?!! Thank you. John Bench p.s. this "review" is a copy of an email that I sent to Origin customer services on 17th November. I have not received a reply!"
"The doors are extremely well made and fit perfectly. They look fantastic"
"Very pleased with Bi-folds noticed big difference from are old patio double glazed doors, fitters had radio on outside and you could hardly hear it and we think it made room warmer."
"It was obvious to see by both looks and operations that it was a quality product"
"Brilliant doors and they look great! Would highly recommend"
"Good quality product. Bi-fold doors far better than our old sliding doors."
"Origin Bi fold doors are absolutely great, very easy to glide back to open and close. Made a difference to the room."
"Doors very good but small issue with finish on leading edge of door. Silver cover bar does not extend to top of door. Examples in Orion Windows showroom no better. Poor finishing to an otherwisea good product. Orion Windows chased up with yourselves and was promised a call from your technical team to explain the problem but nothing forthcoming. (See attached photo) Disappointed customer"
"Fitted quickly and expertly by Essex Bifolds. It all works very smoothly."
""Romsey Conservatories provided an excellent service and patiently held the quote while we obtained planning permission for our 5 panel cornerless bifold on a second floor balcony overlooking the sea. They liaised extremely well with us and our builder who was managing the work, and the installation went very smoothly, on time and with no problems. After sales service has been faultless. The end result is stunning!""
"Product very good - would have welcomed a guide to maintain the bi-fold doors for on going reference especially as i believe they may have dropped making opening difficult. But no faulting the quality."
"Only had the the bi fold doors about a month and seem so far to be okay. However, I have two issues, firstly condensation on the frame, it is a new build so this could be due to the building drying out and time will tell. Secondly, I require a door restrictor, but Origin do not offer one, consequently my only option is to add a cabin hook which will not improve the appearance of the doors."
"Beautiful stylish big old doors , Easy to use and maintain"
Bet and John Cann decided to build an extension when they moved into their "new" home in 2014, as it was a house that was close to their hearts. In fact, they first bought the home in 1970, the year it was built and the year the couple were married.
After spending the first eight years of married life together in the house, they sold it to run a B&B, although the house stayed close to the couple as John's aunt was the buyer. Later, Bet and John's son would even own the property, buying it from the aunt!
Bet and John, however, spent 27 years running the B&B before buying their original marital home back. That was in 2012, but they didn’t move in immediately, opting to rent it for a couple of years until John retired.
It was the home where the couple started married life and, 44 years later, it would also be the home where they would spend their retirement.
Modernising and Extending
Before settling in, however, they wanted to modernise and extend the back of the house. It is located in Bradworthy, about 10 miles from the coast, and has beautiful views over rolling countryside that Bet and John wanted to make the most of while also creating more space for the interior.
Their niece and her husband are both architects, so Bet and John turned to them to draw up some plans, going through a number of stages before deciding how best to proceed, with the final plans including bi-folding doors.
"Bi-folding doors fitted perfectly with what we wanted to achieve" said Bet. "I love the views we have, and bi-folding doors allow John and I to enjoy them, whatever the weather."
Bet and John decided aluminium bi-folding doors were the best option after looking at a number of the alternatives, including timber and uPVC. The coupled preferred the sturdier feel of aluminium, attractive appearance, and the fact that aluminium would stand the test of time as it doesn't warp in the same way that timber and uPVC can.
Bet said: "We wanted something that would last and would require no maintenance. We both fell in love with Origin’s doors. They had the grey colour that we wanted to modernise the house, and the doors have a feeling of real quality. They were just what we were looking for."
To complement the bi-folds, the Cann’s also opted to install fixed Origin Windows next to them with an Origin Gable above. The fixed frames allow the natural light to enter all corners of the kitchen-lounge area whilst the mullions of the gable match perfectly with the sightlines of the bi-folds, giving a seamless look to the back of the house.
Bet and John selected their Origin products and work began on the extension before they went travelling through Vietnam and Cambodia in February 2015. While they were away, their doors and windows were installed and when they came back, their home was transformed.
"The wonderful scenery of the fields outside is now much more a part of the inside of the home," said Bet. "It makes the times I have with friends over afternoon tea or spontaneous catch ups even more enjoyable.”
