Origin Doors

Installing replacement windows for your home is a significant financial commitment, and there are a number of factors that affect the overall cost to be considered:

Number of windows

If you’re investing in replacement windows for your home, the chances are you’ll be replacing all rather than some of them, for consistency. Obviously, the more windows your home has the more it will cost to replace them.

On average, you can expect to budget around £500 per fitted window, but this depends on the size, layout, quality of the window and glass you have chosen.

The table below gives you a guide to typical numbers of windows:

Type of house

Terraced

Semi-detached

Detached

10-20

Size of windows

It goes without saying that larger windows cost more to replace than smaller ones. And if you’re expanding the size of any existing windows, you’ll need to factor in additional building costs for enlarging the space.

For an accurate cost estimate for your replacement windows, speak to your local installer.

Style of windows

The type of windows you choose will also affect the overall price. The price will also be affected by how many openings and locks you need in your replacement windows and whether you choose to insulated them with Aerogel

Contact your local installer for further information on styles and for a quotation.

Finish options

All of Origin’s windows are powder coated, which is a robust and environmentally friendly finish. But with more than 150 RAL colours available, including a realistic timber effect if you’re looking for a more traditional finish, this is something to consider when choosing your replacement windows.

Location

The location of the windows can affect the price you pay for replacement windows. For example, if the windows are in a hard to reach area, the installation price could go up as there may be extra equipment that the installers need to use.

It’s always advisable to check with the window supplier about whether there’s an additional charge for location.

Installation

Fitting your replacement windows once you’ve chosen them comes at a price in itself, an Origin accredited supplier will offer installation for an additional cost.

Removing the old windows

It’s unlikely that you’ll want to keep hold of your old windows, so make it clear with the company or contractor that’s fitting the new windows that you’d like them to take away the old ones, otherwise you could face an additional charge to have them removed and disposed of.

VAT

VAT is payable for replacing windows, which will usually be factored into the overall cost by the supplier and/or installer.
