We also love the style. When we see our neighbours in the pub they all comment on how stylish the door is. We can’t wait to finish the rest of the house.

This detached house located in the heart of Henham - a cosy village in Essex - has been home to Steve and Nikki for more than 17 years. Set on a quiet street amongst an array of charming houses, you simply can’t help but notice the impressive anthracite grey front door, coupled with matching windows, at Steve and Nikki’s house.

Originally built in 1998 and located in a conservation area, Steve admits the property required modernising; not only for aesthetics but also for security purposes. After visiting the  showroom of a local Origin trade partner, the couple fell in love with the style and quality of the Origin Home Range.

“Our previous front door had an outdated locking system that didn’t meet our insurance requirements. However, the Origin Residential Door not only met those requirements, it exceeded them, so now we’re fully protected”, Steve says.

They opted for a 5-point PAS24 automatic locking system with key-only access and pull-bar, so they don’t need to worry about locking the door behind them when they leave or return. The door also features a 3 star British Kitemarked standard barrel, proven to protect against snapping, drilling, picking and bumping. “Style was also important to us,” Steve adds. “Our previous front door was made of wood and had gotten old and draughty. We already had Origin Windows and Origin Bi-fold Doors installed a while ago and liked the quality and style, so the Origin front door was a natural fit.” The couple colour-matched their front door with their existing Origin products, which are all Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016), and opted for a panel from Origin’s Contemporary Range, which offers a sleek and elegant design.

“We wanted to bring more light into the house, which is why we liked that panel because of the glass. We also installed a fixed window to the side of the door for more light,” Steve explains.

When asked what have been the main improvements since installing their front door, Steve said, “the fact that we have more natural light and that we no longer have a draught. We also love the style; when we see our neighbours in the pub they all comment on how stylish the door is. We can’t wait to finish the rest of the house.”

The couple are planning to replace many other old doors and windows in their property with Origin products, which have proven to offer the strength, security and style the couple wanted.

Further to their front door, there is a very large fixed Origin Casement Window, which looks out onto beautiful village scenery and welcomes heaps of natural light into the couple’s lounge. This window is one of the largest Origin is able to currently create at 1710mm wide and 2040mm tall.

A smaller, but equally impressive, adjoining top hung, casement window allows the couple to get fresh air into the room and catches the sun as it rotates throughout the day.

More windows can be found in the office and kitchen, where the couple also installed their 3-door (2+1) bi-fold set in anthracite grey, contrasting exquisitely with their lime green decor.
