Origin was the perfect choice for this home

Doug Lionel and his wife Debbie lived in their property for almost four years. The couple lead busy lifestyles with stressful jobs and a young baby, however, in the middle of their busy lives, Doug and Debbie were also managed a complete renovation of their house. With an existing large, open plan design and high ceilings, the couple wanted to improve the design by maximising the space available, enhancing the existing aesthetic and allowing more light into their living space.

The couple set about redesigning their roof with all this in mind, to create a fantastic view from the loft. By installing matching window frames with large panes, they could achieve this while simultaneously making their surroundings more attractive and homely. Working with an architect, they planned the best design configuration and then began researching suppliers to carry out the installation.

It was during this process that a friend recommended Origin. As Doug recalls: "Origin was the only company that could manufacture doors to the size we wanted downstairs – 4.3 metres wide by 2.4 metres high. No other supplier made them tall enough or wide enough. This was a big deal for us, we had to have access to all that light and the great view, completely unobstructed. So, we went with Origin!" The couple chose a 4-door set of bi-folds in popular colour, Anthracite Grey (7016M) with black gaskets.

Doug and Debbie bought their Origin Doors through the sales team at Enfield Windows. They played an integral part in an inspiring new living space: modern and simple yet sophisticated, a practical and beautiful area. Despite choosing a weathered threshold (to protect their home against the elements) the couple cleverly built their floor up to their doors, to create a flat threshold for that seamless transition from inside to outside. So now, the couple can benefit from complete weather protection as well as a flush finish.

The Lionel’s love their new environment. Debbie smiles as she says: "Even when sitting inside, we still feel like we're outside. There's so much light, everything is so wide open, it's like being in the garden. It’s completely transformed the whole property, we use it every day."

Doug is equally positive when it comes to describing his Origin experience. "For us, Origin was the perfect choice. Anthracite grey was the colour we wanted, and it complements the rest of the room so well. It's the little extra touches too, the colour-coordinated handles, the fitting and hinges, everything just goes together. Also, having a 20-year guarantee gives us real peace of mind."

Even the build timing was hassle-free. It coincided perfectly with Dawn’s pregnancy - with the roof off and temperatures of -2˚C when Debbie found out she was expecting - but after moving out of the property for eight months, the project was completed and she returned just one week before welcoming their new baby into the world.
