I would definitely use Origin again and I've already recommended the products. The quality is great, they have an attractive, slim profile and they just completely open up the outside to bring the outside in.- Jim Ottewell
One way to freshen up your home is to build an extension – and that’s exactly what Jim did. After living in his home for 23 years, Jim fancied a change and an orangery not only offered the aesthetics he was after, but also the investment potential.
Originally from Kent, Jim settled in Chard, Somerset, in 1963 and hasn’t turned back. With a background in engineering and design, including orangery design, Ji played a big part in the creation of his own orangery. Working closely with Village Conservatories, an Origin Trade Partner, and with a professional understanding of how to make the most of light and space in a property, Jim opted for a corner set of bi-folding doors. Coming highly recommended by his brother-in-law, Jim got in contact with Origin who passed the details across to Jim's local installer.
"From the off, I could see the doors were of high quality - the way they looked and also the impressive guarantee. I think you get what you pay for, and you can see they were better than the competitors." Jim recalled.
Considering the dominant nature of a corner bi-folding door, Jim made securing hisOrigin Corner Bi-fold Door a priority. Jim choose a 5+4 configuration with face drainage and in one of Origin’s more popular colours (a slate grey, RAL 7015).
"There are doors that are cheaper on the market but when you start looking deeper into the guarantee for the parts, it sets Origin apart."
Inspired by the colour of his bi-folding doors, Ji then decorated the orangery interior to match. To complete that inside/outside feel and enhance the wow factor, he also cleverly matched the interior and exterior flooring, creating an illusion of one single floor. All Jim's visitors love the great quality and easy operation of his new bi-folds.
"I would definitely use Origin again and I've already recommended the products. The quality is great, they have an attractive, slim profile and they just completely open up the outside to bring the outside in."
The ability to completely open up the doors and create a seamless transition between inside and outside was really important for Jim. After kitting up his living room and reception room with the latest ‘smart’ technology, Ji wanted this to be a relaxing and minimalist oasis, free of technology. It’s safe to say it looks like the dream has been achieved.
“It's a great place to entertain guests, and to relax and read when we don't. In fact, we use it quite often, also as an entranceway into our garden." Ji continued.
