A Space Transformed: A Light-Filled Corner Extension with Origin

The Vision

The homeowners wanted a modern yet timeless addition that would bring together functionality and form. The existing layout, though charming, lacked the connection to the garden they desired. They imagined a space that felt open and fluid, one where natural light could pour in from multiple directions and where the boundary between indoors and outdoors could be effortlessly blurred.

The Solution

Working closely with their architect, the homeowners chose the Origin OB49 Corner Bi-fold Door as the centrepiece of their extension. With slim sightlines and precision-engineered frames, the corner configuration became the defining feature of the design. The black aluminium frames, complete with horizontal astragal bars, create a striking industrial-inspired aesthetic while maintaining a sense of elegance and warmth.

To complement the corner bi-fold, a smaller French door set was installed to the right-hand side of the extension. This provides additional access to the garden and continues the consistent sightlines that tie the new space together.

A Seamless Connection

Inside, the transformation is remarkable. The corner bi-fold floods the living and dining areas with light, creating an inviting atmosphere throughout the day. From the herringbone flooring to the soft, neutral palette, every detail has been considered to balance modern design with homely comfort.

When opened, the doors completely remove the barrier between home and garden, creating a flexible space perfect for entertaining or relaxing. Even when closed, the expansive glazing provides uninterrupted views and a constant connection to nature.

The Result

The extension has completely redefined the way the homeowners use their space. What was once a dark, enclosed corner of the house has become a vibrant, multi-functional area that embraces light and openness. The Origin OB49 system not only delivers exceptional performance and security but also serves as a stunning architectural statement.

From the exterior, the black-clad structure contrasts beautifully with the original white façade, framing the glazed corner as a bold and contemporary addition to the home’s character.
