Origin Doors

Aluminium

Origin’s Material of Choice

When looking to invest in a new door or window, one of the biggest decisions you’ll be faced with is what material they’re made from.

You’ll no doubt be faced with questions such as – which would look the nicest, which would be the most secure, which would last the longest and what are the maintenance requirements associated with each?

We have previously made some advice articles that should give answers to all of the above and more, and pieces like this look at the individual materials and gives pros and cons of each, but for this page, we will be talking about aluminium exclusively, as it’s Origin’s material of choice for all of its doors and windows.

Why Aluminium?

For us, the benefits of aluminium doors and windows outweigh those of other materials – it’s strong, physically secure, able to be made in large panel sizes with slimmer sightlines and offer an extensive range of colour and woodgrain options.

Aluminium weighs 67% less than steel yet carries a lot of its strength properties. This means that it can create lighter and easier to operate doors and windows. Aluminium allows for slim sightlines to be achieved for maximised views and can be made in complex configurations (such as corner bi-folds) without compromising on performance or security.

Not All Aluminium is the Same

Our aluminium is exclusively of a premium grade. This means that it’s not made up from re-melting scraps, which gives it a greater overall finish. It’s smooth to the touch and visually flawless to look at.

Given aluminium’s innate strength and durability, it makes it resilient against flexing, warping and corroding in differing weather conditions, which is just one of the reasons why we’re confident in offering such long guarantees.

As our doors and windows have a powder coated finish, it means that periodic painting and demanding maintenance* are not necessary, so you can relax, knowing it’s one less thing to worry about.

*More routine maintenance will be required in certain areas. See our terms and conditions for details.

The Green Choice

Environmentally Responsible

Finally, the fact that aluminium is infinitely recyclable is another reason that cemented our choice in choosing to use it throughout our product range.

Looking after the environment, sustainability and corporate responsibility are subjects that are very close to our hearts, which is why we chose to work towards and achieve the ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation.
