Jennifer and Rob purchased their house almost nine years ago. They came across it when they were looking for a home that was away from the hustle and bustle of London and that would be the perfect environment to build their family.

The couple had always planned to extend their home and when they felt the time was right, they decided on a kitchen extension to make the most of their downstairs space, turning it into a more social and spacious environment. After a lengthy 18 months, the couple received planning permission and could begin their project, which was expected to take 12 weeks. The couple were extremely happy that they could extend their home onto their patio, as it meant that they did not need to sacrifice any of their grass space, meaning their two little boys still had plenty of room to play.

Jennifer and Rob wanted to be able to enjoy their kitchen space all year round - they have a fully functioning bar at the bottom of the garden, so with their new bi-folds, in the summer, they can open the whole of their outdoor space and entertain family and friends.

The Georgian bars were a huge attraction for Jennifer and Rob. They're on trend and were exactly the style the couple were going for in their newly refurbished kitchen. As a steel fabricator’s daughter, this style was something Jennifer had always wanted for her home. With two young children, security was also important for the couple - their new doors have an industry-leading eight-point locking system, ensuring safety for the whole family, giving the couple peace of mind that their family is safe.

Jennifer was sure of the design that she wanted, so she set about trying to find someone who could create this. After coming across Origin Premium Partner, Open Living and visiting their showroom, Jennifer liaised with them, explaining what it was that she was looking for. Open Living recommended Origin for the install and after some consideration and exploration of alternatives, she was delighted to go with Origin products. After explaining they felt sturdy and reliable as well as being able to achieve the aesthetic she was looking for, Jennifer couldn’t have been happier.

The couple were determined to have aluminium doors, as steel fabricators daughter Jennifer had dreamt of steel doors, but budget permitting, aluminium was the best option for them. Along with this, there were many practical benefits of aluminium. The couple’s young boys can open and close the doors with ease and they have specific safety features built in, such as the finger safe gaskets, which offer a great reassurance as they cushion and lessen the chance of the young boys fingers from getting caught in between the door leaves.

The couple also chose to add three OW-80 windows to their project, which were also specified with Georgian bars. The 20-year guarantee was also a bonus for the couple, as it allowed them to have peace of mind for the future as aluminium gives more longevity than PVC and can also be infinitely recycled.

The removal of the couple’s old white UPVC doors was something they had very much been looking forward to. Since having their new aluminium doors, the couple have thoroughly enjoyed being able to open up their space and let the light in. Although, they are very much looking forward to being able to have them open throughout the day in the warmer months too.

The couple’s family and friends all love their new doors along with their stylish kitchen. The Georgian bars have been a real eye-catcher, with family members being extremely impressed with how authentic they appear. The couple’s family and friends have all commented how the doors and windows are a real personality stamp of the couple, which clearly means they have added the perfect finishing touch to their renovation.
