Couple Choose Origin to Complete Their Traditional Home
Steve and Julie Williams have lived in their property for three years now. They decided to expand their home a little with an extension framed with two 3 door bi-fold door sets. The two sets made up the outer corner of the extension, which allows the new extension to almost become a part of the outside when they’re opened up, as well as feeling cosy throughout the frosty weather. Whilst undertaking the project, the couple also decided to replace their utility door with an Origin Residential Door.
As the bi-folding doors came as part of a larger project, they have helped the couple add value to their lovely country property. Although this was not their aim, it was an appealing benefit of the project.
When researching the design of the project, the couple toyed with the idea of bi-folding doors or French doors. The couple's search was made easy as Julie’s brother works for Freedom, who are an Origin Premium Partner. After visiting the Freedom showroom, the couple were sold on bi-folds. They fell in love with the idea of being able to open their home up throughout the summer and truly enjoying their indoor/outdoor space, especially when hosting friends and family. They had also heard nothing but lovely things about Origin Doors and Windows, so with all of these factors combined, it made for an extremely easy decision-making process.
When it came to style and configuration, Steve and Julie had their hearts set on darker colours for the bi-folds to complement the current architecture of their property. RAL colour 7016 Anthracite Grey fit their requirements perfectly, as they felt it complemented their home perfectly. When choosing a colour for their utility door, they wanted to choose a cream colour and picked popular panel TR02 in a dual colour option. The couple chose RAL colour 7032M for the inside of their panel, perfectly matching their decor. They then opted for the lighter RAL 1015M for the outside. Since having the doors installed, the couple have been impressed with their new-found ease of access to their home and the new ability to let the outside in by almost creating one big room.
Security along with thermal efficiency was somewhat of a concern for the couple when completing their extension. They wanted to be sure that their new doors were not only stylish, but also safe and practical. Their Origin products installed gave Steve and Julie a sense of security, as both the bi-folds and front door come with an eight-point locking system and are built with an innately strong aluminium. Along with this, Origin Doors are manufactured with a polyamide thermal break to reduce the air transfer, to ensure the temperature inside is retained, keeping them warm in winter and cool in summer, achieving optimum thermal efficiency.
Since having their extension completed and the doors installed, the couple have enjoyed opening their south facing doors early in the morning throughout the warmer weather and letting a breeze flow through their home. They have also received nothing but complements from friends and family, whom are now also considering adding bi-folds to their own properties.
