Social media content creator Lucy Renouf and her partner began renovating their first home earlier this year. Wanting to maximise space without major structural work, they chose a simple rear extension to create a bright, open-plan kitchen. To frame this new space, they opted for Origin’s OB-36+ Soho French Bifold Doors in Slate Grey.
The couple had originally dreamt of black steel doors, but were quickly discouraged after receiving quotes. On their architect’s recommendation, they explored Origin’s Soho Range as an alternative and immediately knew it was the perfect match for their vision.

Although they initially planned for French doors, the French bifold configuration offered the best of both worlds: classic steel-style detailing when closed, with the added benefit of being able to fully open up the back of the house. Lucy says the doors have completely changed the way they use the space. Throughout the summer, they were “barely ever closed”, making the kitchen and garden feel like one connected area. Now moving into winter, she is surprised by how warm, cosy and inviting the space feels, even with the doors shut.

Another standout benefit for the couple was Origin’s extensive colour range. Expecting black to be their only option for a steel-inspired look, they loved discovering that Origin offered over 150 RAL colours. Wanting something softer and more in keeping with their home’s warm, country style, they chose RAL 7015M Slate Grey. It provides a bold yet understated finish that suits the space perfectly.
