This families brand-new annex is filled from head to toe with Origin’s Soho collection, creating a modern contrast to its countryside surroundings…

Why Origin?

This busy family bought their home, set deep in the Hampshire countryside back in 2022. With their main property featuring a more traditional look, the homeowners were keen to add a touch of modern luxury to their grounds. Starting work with what was merely a shed and a run-down pool, the dreams of their breathtaking pool house felt far from reality. When the homeowners started to specify their project, they had visions of large, black, Soho style doors in which would frame the views of the pool and surrounding grounds. The homeowners were on the hunt for industrial style ‘Steel-look’ doors to contrast the natural beauty of their garden, however with a family of young kids it was important they didn’t just consider aesthetics but also function. Having already had Origin’s contemporary bi-folds installed in their main property, the couple had been impressed with how easy the doors were to operate and with features such as a ‘finger safe gasket’ felt confident in allowing their children use the doors as well. After a bit of a research, the couple came across Origin’s brand-new OB-36+ soho doors. Featuring the exact look they were after, this new product didn’t just tick the box on aesthetics but also allowed for all the practical elements of a bi-fold door, in which no other window and door company were offering…

A bit about the project…

Opting for a large set of Origin’s soho bi-folds with a floating corner post in a textured matt black finish, these doors aren’t just stunning when closed but also allows the family to completely open up their space, creating an immediate transition from indoor to outdoor living. Whilst the doors make a statement themselves the homeowners were keen to make the most of the natural light surrounding this property and opted for a gable window to sit above this already impressive set of doors. Featuring Origins OW80 gable window with Soho bars, this product mimics the look of the doors below whilst allowing light to flood through the annex from all angles. As well as serving the purpose of a pool-house, the family wanted to create a sanctuary in which their friends and family could stay when they visited; with a stunning kitchenette and lounge area, one bathroom and two bedrooms, the property needed more than just external doors and windows to finish off this dreamy space. Opting for Origins OI30 Soho internal doors seemed like an obvious choice, being the sister product of the Soho external doors, paired together, Origin’s Soho products are a match made in heaven. With matching antique brass hardware and true slim divides, the property is the definition of a soho house dream. With every detail thought through, from entrance doors in the form of Soho French, bi-folding and single doors scattered around the building, no detail was missed when it came to creating this picture perfect soho home.

The outcome…

Since completing this build, the family couldn’t be happier with their property’s annex. Now a huge focal point of their home, the family love to use this space regularly for entertaining guests. With it’s multi-use purpose, the kids are able to enjoy the space in the day with the doors open, in and out of the pool, whilst the parents are able to cosy up after a busy day, closing the doors completely to shut off the outdoor world and enjoy each other’s company. Now the project is finished the family have been inundated with compliments, many commenting on how incredible the doors not only look but how they enhance the beauty of the naturals surrounding area. This property is truly what Soho style is all about, modern, meets heritage, combining industrial bars contrasted against the natural cedar cladding these homeowners knew what they were doing from start to finish and we couldn’t love the outcome more!
