The Zabel’s are no strangers to Origin products having previously installed Origin French Doors to lead to their back garden. When news first broke about the Origin Front Door and Garage Door, it came at an opportune time as they were looking to replace both to a more secure, thermally efficient and stylish system.
When they first moved into their house, it had timber doors on the rear, the front and the garage, then as time went on, degradation started to set in. Another issue that Mr. Zabel highlighted was that the previous doors they had which led to the rear were draughty and let in a lot of cold, and hence, they looked into getting the Origin French Doors, of which are known for their thermal efficiency. Since having them installed, Mr. Zabel quotes savings of up to £400 on his gas bill, as the previous doors did not keep the house as warm as desired.
After knowing about Origin’s reputation for premium manufacturing quality and finding out about Origin launching the Residential Door, he decided it was time to replace the old timber front door and garage door.
What stood out for the Zabel’s when choosing their front door was the amount of choice, colours and hardware options available. Origin offers over 35 panel choices across 5 different ranges, including the Traditional range, which is the one they opted for.
“We chose the traditional door because it was similar to the timber door we previously had and thought that the design worked well with the house style”. This also influenced them in choosing the hardware options. “We had so much choice when choosing the doors, but to keep with the traditional look, we chose to have a knocker on there with a spyhole and a finger pull instead of a bar handle or lever handle”. The panel colour itself is a contrast to the rest of the house being in an anthracite grey with a white frame. The versatility in being able to have a different frame colour to the panel allowed the Zabel’s to tie in the rest of the house as both the windows and garage door in the house are white. Although contrasting, its style is subtle, yet the colour creates a bold statement.
When it came to choosing the garage door, they were conscious of not breaking the street style and colour as all the garage doors in the street are white. To keep a minimalist look in keeping with the house and street style, they opted for traditional panels with a colour matched white Yale lever handle.
Since having the doors installed, the Zabel’s couldn’t be happier. With flawless functionality, they have given their front of house a well-deserved facelift, and can now pull up in the driveway in style. They also know that the cold, draughty doors are a thing of the past, and they’ll be looked after for 20 years with Origin’s industry-leading guarantee.
