“We have recommended Origin to our friends and family. The installation itself was very quick and we were especially pleased with the short lead time. Everything went smoothly and we love how stylish and easy-to-use the Bi-fold Doors are.”

- Sarah

Sarah and John had lived in their beautiful Kent property for almost a decade before deciding to build a garden room that they could use all year and provide floor to ceiling views of their beautiful surroundings.

“We decided that the summer house we had didn’t really give us the ambience that we wanted from a room outside. We wanted something more open, that would give us more flexibility with our living, and a room that we could open up and become part of the garden,” Sarah says.

Sarah and John carefully considered floor to ceiling casement windows and bi-fold doors, which would offer the open and flexible living they wanted. With a large garden backing on to rolling English countryside, the couple wanted to make sure that they would be able to appreciate the views from inside the garden room. After consulting with DWL Home Improvement, Origin came highly recommended.

The couple chose four sets of side hung internal and external flush casement Origin Windows with fixed bottom panels. The windows were a crucial part of the design, offering floor to ceiling views toward the house, fields and back of the garden, flooding the garden room with natural light.

They also opted for a 3+0 Origin Aluminium Bi-fold Door, which can be completely opened up in the summer to provide uninterrupted views - and tightly closed in the winter to keep the room warm.

The thermal efficiency of both the Origin Windows and Origin Bi-fold Doors mean the garden room and its views can be used all year round, which is exactly what Sarah and John required. Featuring a weathered threshold, the Bi-fold Doors also keep the room protected from rain and driving winds and keep the room warm in winter. With a log fireplace incorporated into the design of the room, the couple’s plan on spending many cosy nights in their new garden room, come rain or shine.

They chose Anthracite Grey (7016M) for both the Bi-fold Door and Window frames as they felt that this was a natural fit for the existing oak. Stainless steel handles also offer a nice contrast, creating an overall very modern and stylish look.

Sarah says, “I love the contrast of the window handles and the frames, but also the added security, especially when you’re away.”

Offering the highest level of security by engaging cylindrical cams into the window keeps, every Origin Window comes installed with Yale’s renowned Encloser system. The Origin Bi-fold Door features a unique 8-point locking system, which exceeds current building regulations - offering outstanding security.

When asked what the biggest transformation was, Sarah said “the view”, and how the room can conveniently be used both in winter and in summer. John is also extremely pleased with the transformation and plans to use the room to watch the F1.

The couple say that everyone comments on how beautiful the space is and how the garden room is still in keeping with the main house - blending modern and traditional styles. The original summer house now sits at the back of the garden, with the garden room taking centre-stage. “It’s totally changed the way we interact with our garden”, Sarah says.
