The Background

When the homeowners moved into their first home, they were greeted by a property fitted throughout with single glazing. Recognising the potential to transform the space, they made a decision early on to upgrade all the windows and doors using the Origin OW-70 Slimline range, with the exception of two rear downstairs windows, which were earmarked for a future extension.

Three years on, the extension is now complete. It features Origin’s OB-36+ Contemporary bifold doors with an impressive configuration, marking a pivotal moment in the transformation of the home.

Why Origin?

The homeowners discovered Origin through a visit to Fox Windows’ showroom. As first-time buyers, they hadn’t been previously exposed to premium aluminium products. However, the 20-year guarantee, premium-grade aluminium finish, and ultra-slim sightlines of the Origin range quickly won them over.

A Design-Led Decision

Intent on avoiding the dated look of darker frames, the homeowners opted for RAL 9007 Aluminium Grey, a sleek and understated tone they had seen used effectively on other homes in their area.

The extension was purposefully designed with a sense of scale in mind, utilising OB-36 bifold doors configured with 1.2-metre-wide glass panels, the largest allowed for the system, and extended in height to maximise natural light. The result? A striking glass façade that brings the outside in.

The Transformation

“We’ve gone from a traditional box kitchen and small dining room to a large, open-plan space. The bifolds open fully and link the kitchen directly to the patio… it's completely changed how we live and entertain.”

The new extension is more than just a structural addition. It’s a lifestyle upgrade. Whether hosting friends or spending quiet time at home, the enhanced flow between indoors and out has redefined the way the space is used.

The reaction from friends, family, and neighbours has been overwhelmingly positive, with many locals knocking on the door to ask about the colour and supplier of the windows.

“The bifolds have been a talking point. Because they’re taller than standard, it gives the whole room a floor-to-ceiling glass effect.”

Looking Ahead

Future plans for the home include the installation of Origin’s Soho internal doors between the hallway, kitchen, and front room, a testament to the trust and loyalty built with the Origin brand.
