Nearly ten years after building their dream country home in Norfolk, Sophie and her husband found themselves revisiting one of the few original design decisions that no longer reflected the home they had created.

Like many self-build projects, the initial budget meant making compromises. Standard white uPVC glazing provided a practical solution at the time, but as the years passed and the interiors, kitchen and landscaped gardens evolved, it became clear the glazing no longer complemented the carefully considered aesthetic they had worked so hard to achieve.

Everything else had changed. The glazing was the final piece of the puzzle.

Finding the right fit

Sophie first came across Origin while browsing Instagram. The breadth of colour choices and distinctive styling immediately stood out, prompting her to explore further. As she researched the brand, she discovered several friends had already chosen Origin for their own homes, reinforcing her confidence that it was the right choice for theirs.

Rather than rushing the decision, Sophie spent months refining every detail. From colours and hardware to configurations and glazing bars, every element was carefully considered to ensure it complemented both the architecture of the property and the way the couple live.

The final specification included two OB36+ Soho Bifold Doors with solid bottom panels and Signature Knurled Handles in Antique Brass, an OI30 Soho Internal Door featuring a solid bottom panel with an Antique Brass Contemporary Handle, and two OW70 Soho Windows with one true divide and colour matched inline handles.

Each product was finished in RAL 7009M Green Grey, creating a cohesive palette that flows seamlessly between the interior and exterior of the home.

Framing the landscape

One of Sophie's biggest concerns before installation was whether the Soho glazing bars would interrupt the uninterrupted views across their beautifully landscaped garden.

Instead, they achieved the opposite.

The carefully proportioned glazing bars now frame different parts of the garden, adding depth and structure to every outlook. Rather than simply looking outside, each window creates a series of intentional views that enhance both the landscape and the interiors.

The result is a stronger connection between the home and its surroundings.

Every detail considered

As an interior designer, Sophie understands that exceptional spaces are defined by the details. Every finish, every colour and every piece of hardware was selected with purpose.

From the Signature Knurled Handles in Antique Brass to the rich Green Grey finish, each element works together to complement the home's architecture and interiors while reflecting the couple's personal style.

For Sophie, replacing the glazing wasn't simply about upgrading windows and doors. It was about ensuring every aspect of the home reflected the same level of care and consideration.

The finished result demonstrates that thoughtfully specified glazing can become far more than a practical feature. It becomes an integral part of the design, bringing together architecture, interiors and landscape into one cohesive vision.
