A Garden Room to Enjoy All Year Round with Origin Bi-Folding Doors

Ron and Sandy Fletcher run Park Mill Farm Holiday Cottages in Chulmleigh, Devon - a busy destination with guests visiting all year-round. Their home, where they have lived since 2003, is part of the eight-acre site of Park Mill which also features the holiday cottages and a stunning garden, immaculately maintained by Ron.

The garden room is particularly popular, being used extensively by Ron and Sandy, as well as their guests. It has beautiful views and helps make a closer connection between the inside space of the house and the garden.

As the garden room is so important to the property and their guest’s experience, Ron and Sandy decided it needed a revamp to modernise it, which included removing the old and tired windows that had become draughty and problematic.

The couple spoke to a local builder who recommended they look at the options provided by Origin’s Bi-folding Doors, known for their thermal efficiency, where Ron and Sandy soon found exactly what they were looking for.

Complementary Decor

As well as opening up the garden room more, Ron and Sandy wanted to match the colour of the doors with the interior decor of their home which features an attractive combination of French Oak and English Oak that make up the frame of the room.

"We decided we wanted to contrast the oak to give the new doors a real contemporary look while maintaining the country charm," said Sandy. "I finally settled on anthracite grey for our bi-folding doors. It wasn’t the easiest of choices, but I am delighted with the result."

The renovation of the garden room and the installation of the Origin Bi-fold Doors is now complete and Ron, Sandy, and their guests are now able to enjoy the room and patio area like never before.

The problems with the draught are gone too; the room is cosy and warm, even on cold days, so guests can now use the garden room all year round.

Sandy said: "Ron and I love it as well, we spend as much time here as possible. The real test, however, is the guests. Most of them react the same when they see the room, they open the bi-folds, and see the unrestricted, stunning views of the garden and just say 'wow'. I think it is safe to say they like it!”

"The view is now uninterrupted, so it is possible to enjoy the ever-changing nature of the garden as the seasons shift. It is wonderful sitting here over morning or afternoon tea.”

The reception to the Fletcher's garden room and new bi-folding doors has been so positive that their neighbours are now looking into getting Origin Bi-fold Doors fitted in their homes too.
