The properties would be four and five-bedroom detached family homes, each benefiting from large wrap around gardens and views of the picturesque Chelmsford countryside. With the view in mind, Bob and Ben decided that they wanted to use glass to enhance the feeling of spaciousness and frame the stunning countryside surrounding the homes.
The properties were designed with quality in mind, so Bob and Ben wanted doors and windows that would complement the high spec homes. Son, Ben, looks after the design aspect of the builds and having only ever used PVC windows in previous projects, he wanted to explore options for a stronger material. With the vision to incorporate large expanses of glass into the homes, Ben knew that he’d need to source a material that would be stronger and more reliable. It was at a local trade show that Ben came across Origin and was impressed at the sheer strength and security that Origin products offer.
Thermal efficiency was also important, since the properties would be brand new – they wanted to ensure that they’d be as thermally efficient and as economical as possible. Once they discovered that Origin Windows can achieve a U-value of 0.9 W/m²K and 1.3 W/m²K for the doors, they were confident that the products would exceed their requirements and eventually pay for themselves with the amount that the future homeowners would likely save in energy bills.
Bob and Ben were pleasantly surprised that the Origin products they chose are backed by a guarantee of 20 years. They felt that this promise would really help to sell the properties and offer potential buyers’ further confidence that no expense was spared in the project.
Once they had established that Origin was the right manufacturer for them, they got in touch with Clive at Essex Bi-folds – their local premium Origin partner. It was Clive who personally helped with the design process to ensure that the windows and doors would perfectly complement the homes. For each property, they opted for a range of large gable, fixed and casement windows along with bi-fold, single and front doors to help make the perfect first impression. Each property was designed slightly differently to make the homes unique. Bob and Ben were impressed at how smoothly the process went, especially considering the amount of design work required. Anthracite Grey was chosen for all the products, to contrast with the lightly coloured brick and partial white render and complement the modern, dark grey roofs.
Clive at Essex Bi-folds took care of the ordering process and his team delivered and installed the doors within a matter of weeks. Bob and Ben were pleasantly surprised at how swiftly the team were able to install the products with such minimal disruption to the rest of the build. Clive commented that Origin is the only product range he can install with complete confidence, so he was very happy to install Origin Doors and Windows into the new builds. When asked what advice Clive would give to other people doing a similar project, he commented ‘It’s so important to keep in regular contact with the client. And don’t let the project get away from you.’
The final result with the doors and windows installed is just breath-taking. Ben commented ‘The floor to ceiling glass makes an excellent, lasting impression. We’re so happy we went for Origin.’ He has said that potential buyers are taken aback by the amazing new builds and particularly love the floor to ceiling glass and the openness that the windows and doors help to create.
The properties turned out even better than Bob and Ben ever imagined. So much so, that Ben has decided to move into one with his family. ‘It wasn’t always the plan, but how could I not? The final result is just brilliant, and the location is perfect.’ said Ben.
Two of the remaining three properties have now sold, after just weeks of being on the market. When asked if Bob and Ben would use Origin and Essex Bi-folds again, they commented ‘Yes, we absolutely would. We’d recommend both companies to anyone looking for quality Windows and Doors and an excellent service to match.’
