Martin and Alia moved into their Cornish home in the Autumn of 2016. The house is spacious with four bedrooms and three reception rooms, however, when the couple chose to renovate their kitchen to a more contemporary style, they saw an opportunity to extend and create a larger, brighter living space.

The couple felt that the back of their house lacked natural light and was generally a dark and unenjoyable space. They knew that with their extension they would want to bring in as much natural light as possible and connect the inside of their home with their beautiful garden, which they would do with the use of high-quality glazing.

After speaking with their local trade partner, Prime Windows, the couple decided Origin Doors and Windows were the right products for them and their home. And, the couple went big. For their new kitchen dining space, they chose an impressive 7-door configuration, allowing them to completely open up the back of their home with no visual interruption. So easy to use and 67% lighter than steel, the couple have no trouble opening and closing their large configuration of aluminium bifold doors. And, exceeding current building regulations, the couple needn’t worry about losing heat in the winter with their Origin Bi-fold Doors.

To make the most of the light and space, the couple also installed a set of 3-door bi-folds adjacent to the larger set, replicating a corner door set without the need for as much structural work. Another set of 3-door bifolds were installed in their conservatory, just left of their kitchen to enhance the light. And, with extremely smart use of the same flooring inside and out, the couple have created a truly light space that links their kitchen and garden; bringing the outside in. The couple couldn’t be happier with their home transformation and complete kitchen extension. “We think the Origin Doors are brilliant. They bring the whole new look together. The house has a more modern overall feel. Everything has been brought up-to-date while retaining it’s personality… it’s seamless, and Prime were great” Martin comments.

So impressed with the Origin range of aluminium doors, the couple also decided to replace the windows in their property with Origin’s contemporary, thermally efficient and highly secure windows. The couple’s house has had a contemporary facelift with a mixture of fixed windows, top hung casement windows, side opening casement windows and bay windows, and even an Origin Single Door in their utility room for easy access to their garden. All Martin and Alia’s Origin Doors and Windows were chosen in Slate Grey (7015M) with black gaskets for a highly modern and sleek look throughout the property.

When we asked Martin how he feels about the overall extension and addition of Origin Doors and Windows, he said, “we’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do. We’ve created a modern kitchen diner with a light, spacious and airy feel. We use the space every day and love the whole experience. The Origin products are high quality, well built and strong but also easy to use.”
